Short and engaging
I’ve played the full Ticket to Ride and found some sessions drag. This New York version is snappy — you can play several rounds with kids in an hour and it keeps their attention. My partner prefers the larger map for variety, but I like the tighter choices here since fewer routes force more planning.

Family hit
Fun, easy to pick up and quick to play — perfect for family nights or when you lack time for a long board game. Compact but still keeps the same strategy and excitement.

Great gameplay, messy delivery
Smaller than the standard edition but ideal for short sessions. Fun and worth owning. Delivery was unreliable: the shipping label existed early but the package didn’t move until days later, so it arrived later than promised.

Fast-play favorite
I enjoy the smaller Ticket to Ride variants. They play quickly regardless of player count. I think it hits its stride with 3–4 players but it’s still fine at two. Great when you want a quick, easy-to-teach game.

Good mix of luck and strategy
I had to read the rules a few times, but once we played it clicked. My 8-year-old enjoyed planning routes and wanted to build a third line. It teaches a bit about New York landmarks, involves decision-making with card draws, and is similar in feel to kids’ Monopoly versions.

Bought several as gifts
I purchased one for us and then gave copies to family and neighbors — it’s a great intro before moving to the bigger maps. Games take roughly 20 minutes. Tip: use card sleeves or a shuffler; our cards wore faster than expected and replacements aren’t cheap.

Better than the junior option for our kids
Chose this over the junior box: less overwhelming board, fewer cards to manage, and only 15 minutes per game — ideal for elementary-aged kids. It isn’t dumbed down, so adults enjoy it too. I’ll likely add the London version next.

Perfect for quick two-player sessions
I get bored in long games and hate losing long ones, so this short edition is perfect. With two players each round is about 15 minutes; four players closer to 30, still short enough for multiple rematches. Simple to learn, has light strategy, and looks nice on the table — highly recommend.
