100 Numbered Oversize Livestock Ear Tags (001–100) — 4.1 x 3 in Plastic
Product description
Constructed from a robust, thick plastic, these ear tags are designed to withstand outdoor exposure. The material resists fading and handles rain, sun and temperature swings while remaining lightweight enough for animal comfort.
Each tag measures 4.1 x 3 inches, making them noticeably larger than typical livestock tags so numbers can be read from a distance during routine checks. The extra size is intended to reduce handling time when locating and identifying animals in pastures or pens.
Numbers 001 through 100 are applied using a laser etching process rather than a surface ink, which helps prevent smearing or rapid fading and maintains clear identification over extended periods.
This 100-piece set includes numbered pairs covering 001–100, providing a full-sequence herd identification solution. The tags are compatible with standard ear tag applicators for fast installation on cattle, calves, goats, sheep, pigs and hogs.
Use these tags to manage birth records, medical histories, grouping or theft deterrence. They’re intended for everyday farm and ranch operations where conspicuous, numbered identification is needed.
Pros
- Large 4.1 x 3 in size for easy reading
- Laser-etched numbers resist smearing
- Includes full set 001–100, fits standard applicators
Cons
- Backings reported to wear or break
- Some tags may fall out after months
- Printed numerals can appear light at distance
VerdictA full pack of large, laser-etched plastic ear tags intended to simplify herd identification. They offer clear, long-lasting numbers and fit common applicators, making routine tagging straightforward. Some users report durability issues with the backing, so they suit farms where easy visibility is a priority but heavy-duty retention is needed.

Not durable
Tags lost contrast quickly and the backing pieces cracked and failed.

Size is great, print could be darker
These are much easier to read than smaller tags. I’d prefer a bolder engraving; from farther away the numbers can be faint.

Wouldn’t Recommend
I can’t recommend them. After tagging two cows in late May both tags had fallen out by August, so the etched numbers don’t help if the tags don’t stay in.

Mostly good, some loss
Generally they perform well, but about 20% of tags came out of calves after three to four months.

Works well for our herd
Bought these for our cattle. The bright color has held up and the tag size is just right.

Avoid if you need long retention
Do not buy if you expect long-lasting retention; many fell out within six months and had to be replaced with sturdier Y-style tags.

Poor retention
Many tags fell out within a few months. The backs wore down and the remaining tags pulled out easily, so I tossed the unused ones and switched brands.

Easy to read
Big tags and large numbers make identification quick. They pierced and fastened fine — good value overall.
