Xeroform Petrolatum Wound Dressings — 1"×8", 50 Sterile Pads
Product description
This product is a petrolatum-impregnated dressing that combines 3% bismuth tribromophenate with a petrolatum base to help control wound odor and maintain a moist healing environment. The medicated core helps protect the wound surface while preventing dehydration of the tissue.
The dressings use a fine, non-adherent mesh that conforms to wound sites and may be trimmed to match different shapes and sizes. Because the mesh is designed not to adhere to the wound bed, removal is intended to be gentle and atraumatic, reducing pain and disruption to new tissue.
Sized at 1 inch by 8 inches, these elongated pads are intended for linear or long wounds such as incisions, donor or graft sites, and finger/toe injuries. They are also suitable for lacerations, abrasions, pressure or leg ulcers, traumatic wounds, and certain burns.
Each pad is individually sealed in a sterile pouch to prevent contamination and simplify storage and single-use application. The box contains 50 individually wrapped dressings, providing sufficient supply for routine dressing changes in both outpatient and home care settings.
To use, place the petrolatum side over the wound, trim if necessary, and secure with an appropriate secondary dressing or bandage. The dressings are intended for single use and should be discarded after removal or when saturated.
Pros
- Non-adherent fine mesh reduces trauma on removal
- Maintains moist wound environment and reduces odor
- Individually sterile wrapped, easy to cut and apply
Cons
- May require additional secondary dressing to stay in place
- Some users report occasional adherence if allowed to dry
- Long size may need trimming for small wound sites
VerdictA reliable option for managing linear and long wounds: the petrolatum core keeps tissue moist and minimizes odor while the fine mesh avoids sticking to the wound bed. Individually sterile wrapped pads are versatile for clinical and home use, especially where atraumatic dressing changes and breathable coverage are needed.

No added medication, did the job
Plain petrolatum dressing, not medicated beyond the bismuth compound. Met my needs for coverage and protection.

Solid wound-care product
Exactly what I needed for treating wounds — does the job well.

Not non-stick for us
Terrible experience — a pad stuck to my daughter’s abrasion overnight and bled when she tried to remove it. We had it covered correctly but it dried and bonded to the wound.

Heartbreaking personal experience
I’m 78 and lost my husband after a long hospital stay with pneumonia, the flu and COVID. He kept getting infections, stopped eating, and they wouldn’t place a feeding tube. I was with him throughout and believe his care was inadequate. These dressings were fine, but my loss was devastating.

High-quality, gentle non-stick dressings
These dressings are dependable and truly non-adherent — changing them is comfortable even on sensitive areas. The fine mesh lets the wound breathe while the petrolatum soothes. Sterile, easy to secure under a secondary covering, they work well for burns, incisions, grafts and small to medium wounds.

Worked much better than expected
Helped speed healing and kept the gauze from sticking. Non-stick actually worked for me, unlike some other products that cling once they get fluids on them.

Better than regular bandages
Second box purchased. The large sheet works well once cut into smaller pieces; cutting is a bit messy but they outperform ordinary band-aids for serious wound care.
