NOAA Emergency Radio — Solar & Hand-Crank AM/FM/SW with 5000mAh
Product description
This is the upgraded CR1009pro emergency radio, designed to receive NOAA weather broadcasts as well as AM, FM and shortwave stations. It includes an integrated rechargeable 5000mAh battery, a USB charging cable in the box and a backup compartment for three AAA cells (batteries not included). The unit supports recharging from solar panels, a manual hand crank, a USB power source or an external 5V/2A adapter (adapter not included). The front LCD shows time, frequency, battery level and alert icons so you can monitor status at a glance. When fully charged and used only for FM playback, the radio can run for up to about 25 hours.
The radio will auto-scan and preset NOAA channels, cycling through up to seven local weather stations and triggering a loud siren plus a red alert light if a warned condition is received. During an alert the LCD backlight and alert icons flash to make sure warnings are noticeable, even at night. A dedicated SOS button also emits a powerful alarm and flashes the red light to attract attention in an emergency.
Lighting options include a long-range flashlight and a separate reading lamp. The forward flashlight is rated for higher lumen output and is intended to reach a distant target (manufacturer lists approximately 70 meters reach), while the adjustable reading lamp covers a small room or tent area (around 20 square meters). Both lights offer selectable brightness levels for task lighting or extended use in the dark.
For radio use the device has a digital tuner with an extendable telescopic antenna, a 16-step volume control and a 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening. A lock function prevents accidental button presses, and the unit includes a hanging clip and wrist strap for easy carry. The shell is built for practical field use and the manufacturer provides a one-year warranty and customer support via email.
Pros
- Multiple charging methods including solar and hand crank
- Dedicated NOAA alert scan and loud SOS alarm
- Bright flashlight plus separate reading lamp
Cons
- AM reception can be weak on some stations
- USB charging and power-bank output are relatively slow
- No significant water-resistance rating
VerdictA rugged, feature-rich emergency radio that combines NOAA alert monitoring, multiple charging options and strong lighting in a compact package. Ideal for home emergency kits, camping or storm prep; note limited AM sensitivity and modest charging speed compared with larger power banks.

Feature-packed and compact
Impressed by how many features are packed into a small unit. Good size for a go-bag — should be helpful preparing for heavy weather.

Handy and versatile
Works well as a radio and flashlight, plus it can top up a phone during outages. Solar charging and backup batteries make it reliable during storms. Also useful for listening to music when power’s out.

Essential for storm kits and outdoor use
I bought this weather radio for emergency prep and it’s been great. Multiple charging options (solar, crank, USB, batteries) give peace of mind during outages. Reception for AM/FM and NOAA is clear enough to follow weather updates, and the built-in flashlight is very useful for camping and power cuts. Lightweight and easy to carry.

Works well but NOAA not available here
Seems to work fine, but NOAA service isn’t accessible where I live. Other features operate correctly. I appreciate the large battery capacity and multiple charging options compared with smaller radios.

Good compact emergency unit
Has the features I wanted: multiple power sources, AM/FM/SW/NOAA, alerts, SOS and a decent power bank. Controls are simple and lights work well. Downsides: no water protection, charging is fairly slow (about 1A), and using the power bank can affect reception.

Solid radio with a few drawbacks
Well-built and loaded with features, but AM reception can be spotty for weaker stations. Alerts will trigger when in standby or with alert mode on, but it won’t always interrupt other bands to notify you. Volume can need readjusting when switching between strong and weak stations.

Small but surprisingly capable
Tested all functions for a day — picked up local stations and NOAA channels indoors under a metal roof. Lights stayed bright over many hours and the siren is loud. Crank is a last-resort option but good to have. Compact yet packed with features.
