Cholula Extra Hot Pepper Sauce — Arbol & Piquin Blend, 5 fl oz (Pack of 2)
Product description
Information below applies per pack only.
SIGNATURE INGREDIENTS: This Extra Hot variety is crafted from a deliberate blend of arbol and piquin chiles combined with Cholula’s own spice mix. The formulation builds on the brand’s generations-old approach to balance heat and flavor.
LAYERED FLAVOR: Each drizzle delivers an interplay of spicy heat and savory seasoning so that a little goes a long way to lift tacos, eggs, soups and more without masking the underlying food taste.
VERSATILE CONDIMENT: Shake the sauce onto breakfasts, rice and beans, pizza, wings, sandwiches and practically anything you’d normally top with hot sauce. The pourable consistency makes it easy to control how much heat you add.
FOR MEXICAN DISHES: Designed to complement tacos, nachos, huevos rancheros, fajitas, enchiladas and fresh salsas — it provides an extra-hot kick while staying true to Mexican flavor profiles.
ORIGIN & PACKAGING: Made in Jalisco, Mexico, following recipes handed down through generations and originally prepared for the Jose Cuervo family by a cook known as “La Chila.” Bottles are 5 fl oz each, supplied in a multi-pack, and finished with Cholula’s distinctive wooden cap celebrating Mexican craftsmanship.
Pros
- Balanced, pepper-forward heat
- Distinctive wooden cap and glass bottle
- Versatile on many dishes
Cons
- Hotter than the original — may be strong for some
- Small 5 fl oz bottle for frequent users
- Occasional packaging issues reported in transit
VerdictCholula Extra Hot adds a noticeable burn while preserving the brand’s layered, pepper-forward flavor. It’s bolder than regular Cholula but not overwhelming — great for anyone who wants to step up heat on Mexican dishes, breakfast foods, and casual fare. The 5 fl oz glass bottles with the wooden cap are attractive and functional; consider buying a two-pack if you use hot sauce often.

It brings the heat
I already liked the brand and the Extra Hot delivers. A small amount produces a noticeable effect, and it tastes very good.

Tasty, not overpowering
Not overwhelmingly hot but pleasantly spicy. Good flavor and a nice step up from the original.

Great flavor and table appeal
Bold flavor with a good kick — heat with real taste, not just burn. If regular Cholula doesn’t satisfy you, this one definitely will. Looks nice on the table and is the standard hot-sauce bottle size.

A table staple upgraded
Cholula was already my go-to at the table; this Extra Hot just improved it. Spicy and flavorful on eggs, burgers, soups — I always keep a bottle.

Perfect on eggs and guac — watch the packing
What started as an accidental purchase turned into a favorite on poached eggs and sourdough. A little goes a long way; the sauce is spicy, tangy and bright. My first shipment had cracked bottles due to minimal padding, but the seller refunded me.

Superhiway 5/5
Deliciously spicy with a familiar Cholula twist
This moved up my favorites list right behind Melinda’s because of its distinctive taste. The Extra Hot variety delivers enough heat to perk up wings and mild soups. The 5 oz bottle empties quickly if you use it daily, so plan to restock.

Heat without losing flavor
This one adds a noticeable kick but preserves the company’s trademark flavor. A good choice for those who want more heat without masking their food.

Hotter than many Mexican-style sauces
Excellent Mexican-style sauce that’s hotter than regular Cholula and many Valentina-style offerings but not as extreme as some habanero sauces. Great for burritos and tacos when you want to really pour it on.
