Bakuchiol Facial Serum — Botanical Retinol Alternative, 1.18 fl oz
Product description
Botanical retinol alternative: This facial serum harnesses bakuchiol, a plant-derived ingredient that provides many of retinol’s benefits to help address photoaged skin. The formula also includes niacinamide, adenosine, and various botanical extracts to complement its actions.
Collagen support and antioxidant action: The serum works to encourage collagen synthesis and supplies antioxidant protection to counter free radical damage. Its plant-focused composition aims to calm reactive skin while helping fortify the skin’s natural barrier against environmental stressors.
Improves texture and elasticity: Regular use helps slow visible signs of aging, restoring firmness and minimizing the look of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging. The antioxidant-rich blend smooths skin texture so it appears softer, more elastic, and dewy.
Non-sticky, deep hydration: Designed to nourish and soothe without tackiness, this moisturizer-enhancing serum strengthens the skin’s moisture barrier to reduce water loss and maintain hydration throughout the day and night.
How to use: Bottle size is 1.18 fl. oz. After toner, dispense roughly the size of your pinky nail and divide across cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead, then press in to absorb. To lighten a rich cream, blend a single drop of the serum with your thick moisturizer to make the texture lighter while adding bakuchiol’s benefits to your routine.
Pros
- Plant-derived bakuchiol provides retinol-like effects
- Hydrating, non-greasy finish
- Includes niacinamide and adenosine for barrier and texture support
Cons
- Concentrated formula may irritate very sensitive skin
- Can trigger an initial purge similar to retinoids
- Best introduced gradually for beginners
VerdictA lightweight, botanical anti-aging serum that delivers bakuchiol’s retinol-like benefits while adding niacinamide and adenosine for barrier support and smoothing. Feels non-greasy and hydrates well, but the active concentration may be strong for very sensitive skin — patch test and gradual introduction recommended.

Not for beginners or very sensitive skin
I like this overall but had breakouts at first. The sandwich method helped reduce irritation with the higher bakuchiol concentration. I read bakuchiol can cause a purge like retinol. After a couple weeks my pores look better; I’ll keep using it to see more changes.
