Night Cat Ultralight Backpacking Tent — 1–2 Person Waterproof Dome
Product description
Materials and construction: The tent body is made from 190T coated nylon with a PU waterproof layer rated to resist heavy rain. All main seams and stitch lines are sealed with waterproof tape to reduce leakage. The floor and fly are similarly treated for wet conditions, and the inner panels include mesh for insect protection and airflow.
Poles and protection: Two long fiberglass poles form a dome shape and are supplied with an outer protective sleeve around the pole sections to reduce the risk of fiberglass splinters during assembly. Poles are shock-corded and foldable for compact storage. Included in the kit are the tent body, poles with protective casing, stakes, guy lines, and a storage carry sack.
Interior dimensions and capacity: Interior usable space measures approximately 7.0 × 3.8 × 3.6 ft (about 2.2 × 1.2 × 1.1 m), comfortably fitting one adult plus gear or an adult with a small child. There is a single main entrance and a mesh roof vent and side window to promote ventilation and reduce condensation while keeping insects out.
Pack size and weight: The tent weighs roughly 2 kg (4.4 lb) and breaks down into a compact package about 42 × 12 × 12 cm (16.5 × 4.7 × 4.7 in), making it suitable for backpacking, motorcycle touring, cycling trips, scouts, or as a backyard play shelter.
Waterproofing and ventilation: The PU outer coating and taped seams are designed to handle heavy rain; the large mesh door and top vent encourage airflow to minimize stuffiness. The single-layer design focuses on low weight and easy pitching, but proper staking and guylines are recommended in windy or prolonged wet conditions.
Setup and takedown: Assembly uses two diagonal fiberglass poles that slide into sleeves and complete a dome in about one to two minutes for an experienced user. Disassembly and packing are straightforward — poles collapse, stake out, and the tent fits back into its carry bag for transport.
Pros
- Very compact and lightweight for backpacking
- Good waterproof coating with taped seams
- Fast, simple setup and takedown
Cons
- Fiberglass poles can be fragile with heavy or repeated use
- Single-layer design can show more condensation
- Door stake design may allow gaps if not set carefully
VerdictA very portable, budget-friendly one- to two-person dome that balances weight, weather protection and quick assembly. It’s roomy enough for a solo camper plus gear, compacts small for long hikes or bike trips, and uses coated nylon and taped seams for strong rain resistance. Poles are lightweight fiberglass with an added protective sleeve, but durability can vary under heavy repeated use — good va

Very good value and easy to use
Good product. Easy to erect and take down, well thought out.

Lightweight but watch the door gap
Very light and a great size for one person. Rain performance was mediocre and the zipper stuck at times. The bottom of the door needs to be staked down or a gap lets wind and moisture in. It set up quickly and retained some warmth despite that gap, but I ultimately returned it due to these issues.

Fits truck bed well, held up for short use
Tucked neatly into the back of a 1990 Mazda B-series shortbox with the tailgate down; mounting holes lined up and it stayed secure. Survived three days in the truck without problems.

Perfect solo shelter, not roomy for two
Two-pole setup was easy and the canopy was taut. It kept out bugs and rain with no issues. Best used as a solo tent with gear stowed beside you; it can be tight for two adults but ideal for one person and kit if you position the pad thoughtfully.

Spacious and ultralight for long hikes
Really pleased with this tent. At 5'8" and about 170 lb I had plenty of room. Carried it on a 6+ mile trek near 10,000–11,000 ft and it fit easily in my pack. Setup took under five minutes even when I was tired. Inside there was space for my pad, bag and pack, and the single door helped retain warmth overnight. It handled strong winds well and kept me dry.

Solid performance in harsh weather
Stood up to heavy rain and gusty winds on several outings. Comfortable enough for two with gear, zippers feel sturdy, and the tent is light and simple to carry. Support from the maker was responsive when I had a question. Overall I’m very happy with the build and its all-season capability.

Great value for a solo backpacking shelter
This dome hits the sweet spot between light weight and weather resistance without a premium price tag. The packed size is very small and weight sits around 2 kg, which made it easy to tuck into my rucksack. The pitching process is quick and intuitive, and it provides a roomy, reliable shelter for single-night trips or minimalist two-person use when squeezed.

Kept me dry on damp nights
For the cost, this tent exceeded expectations. It was light and roomy enough for my backpacking loop, holding up through three nights with nightly setup and teardown. One evening had a solid hour of heavier rain and I stayed dry; only some condensation touched my bag where I accidentally brushed the wall. You can tell some components are economy-grade, but it performed well overall.

Durable fabric but poles are the weak point
Fabric and coatings seem decent; the fly and floor are fine for wet conditions. However, the pole sections can be troublesome: the outer shrink layer can tear or shift, and the elastic that holds segments together feels flimsy so pieces have popped out. No bathtub floor material included beyond the standard base.

Good layout, inconsistent quality — newer model recommended
On first mountain use a pole snapped at the connector; after trimming and reinserting it failed again until reinforced with tape. I got fiberglass splinters while fixing it. I liked the interior space and extended door cover for shoes, but stitching flaws and loose threads were evident. It survived a heavy shower but quality control seems uneven.

Handy compact tent for short trips
Small but effective tent. Ideal for short stays and motorbike tours. Packs down tiny and is quick to set up — a sensible purchase.
