34-inch Odyssey G5 1000R Curved Ultrawide Gaming Monitor
Product description
Immersive 1000R curvature: The display’s 1000R radius is designed to closely match human peripheral vision, drawing you deeper into games and content. The panel’s curvature and ultrawide shape reduce the visual gap you’d get from dual monitors and make large landscapes and cockpit views feel more natural.
Display and performance: This is an Ultra-WQHD (ultrawide WQHD) VA panel roughly marketed as a 34-inch class screen (actual diagonal measures near 33.4 inches). It runs at up to 165Hz with a 1ms MPRT response time, delivering smoother motion and less blur in fast sequences. The monitor supports HDR10 for expanded dynamic range and delivers strong contrast thanks to the VA panel technology.
Adaptive sync and frame handling: AMD FreeSync Premium is included to synchronize refresh rate to your GPU output, reducing tearing, stutter and input lag. Low frame rate compensation is present to help maintain smoother motion when frame rates dip.
What’s in the box and mounting: The package typically includes the monitor, stand components and common display cables such as HDMI and DisplayPort. The panel works with standard VESA mounts for flexible placement. The chassis is built with a slim bezel and a practical stand that supports height and tilt adjustments; mounting and setup are straightforward for most desk configurations.
Use cases and calibration: Ideal as a single immersive gaming monitor or as a large secondary display in a multi-monitor array, it’s also well suited for movies and multitasking—split-screen workflows on this ultrawide are convenient. Out of the box the color balance may require slight calibration for critical work, but after tuning it produces accurate, punchy visuals for games and media.
Pros
- Deep immersion from the 1000R ultrawide curve
- High refresh (165Hz) and 1ms MPRT for fluid gameplay
- Adaptive sync and HDR10 for smoother, richer visuals
Cons
- May need color calibration after setup
- Stand ergonomics can feel awkward for some desks
- Replacement parts or long-term support can be limited
VerdictThis 34-inch 1000R curved ultrawide is built for immersion and fast-paced play. The Ultra-WQHD ultrawide panel provides a broad field of view, while 165Hz and a 1ms MPRT response cut motion blur and make action feel immediate. AMD FreeSync Premium keeps frames smooth and reduces tearing, and HDR10 with a VA panel delivers strong contrast and vivid scenes. It’s a compelling option for single-monito

Excellent addition as a secondary display
I use this as a companion screen beside my main monitor. The ultrawide format complements my setup perfectly and has run without issues since I set it up. If you’re expanding to multiple displays, this model is a solid pick.

Strong budget monitor for most uses
Fast refresh rate and good color for the cost. Works well as a main or secondary display, mounts easily to VESA, and the built-in speakers are acceptable.

Served well for gaming and streaming
Great for gaming, movies and live streaming. I like splitting the screen between game and chat. It’s held up for years and still performs well, though competitive players might prefer even higher refresh rates.

Beautiful image, a few quirks at first
Picture quality is excellent with deep blacks and solid color. The stand felt a bit awkward and the curve took some getting used to. I noticed a small black border around the edges and initially thought there was damage, but it turned out to be protective tape. Overall my system ran better after swapping the monitor in, which was an unexpected plus.

Good budget pick for a younger player
Bought this for my child and it’s been reliable. I worried the curve might be awkward but it wasn’t. Setup was simple, responsiveness is strong, and after a little color tweaking it looks very good. The machine can’t always hit the highest refresh, but for the price it performs well.

Repair parts became an issue
After two years the main board failed. Service indicated the exact replacement part wasn’t available, and customer support couldn’t assist further. Sad to see a solid monitor become unusable due to spare-part limitations.

Not ideal for competitive gaming
After some use I couldn’t maintain 165Hz and had to play at 100Hz. I experienced lag and stutter in fast games—fine for movies and browsing but disappointing for competitive play.

Recommended when discounted
I waited for a deal and finally bought it. Coming from a 27" 4K 60Hz display with a powerful GPU, I wanted more frames at 2K. I didn’t notice a drop in image quality and the larger ultrawide size makes multitasking much easier. Good for gaming and spreadsheets alike.
