18" x 900' Brown Wet Wax Paper Roll — Food-Safe Butcher Paper
Product description
This product is an 18 inch wide, 900 foot long roll of brown kraft paper with a wet wax coating applied to both sides. The material is produced from 100% kraft pulp, left unbleached, and intended for food contact. The double-sided wax gives extra moisture resistance while remaining recyclable when disposed of.
Thicker and more tear-resistant than ordinary kraft, this wet wax—or butcher—paper is commonly used by grocers and food preparers to wrap meat, poultry, fish, cheese, candy and confectionery items. It also serves well as dipping paper or tray liners in candy production and as a protective layer for charcuterie and deli presentations. Because of the wax coating, it’s often used for freezing; when frozen, the coating helps form a tight seal at contact points, reducing leaks and minimizing freezer burn. You can also insert sheets between pieces of food to keep items from sticking together.
Made in the USA from renewable, low-lignin fibers, this roll is designed for repeated in-house use: cut to the size you need for wrapping, lining shelves, or protecting surfaces during crafts and food prep. The wax is food‑grade and not toxic, but it’s advisable to avoid direct contact with certain baked goods. When used up, the unbleached kraft is recyclable and was produced with environmental considerations in mind.
Pros
- Double-sided food-safe wax coating
- Large 18" x 900' roll for cutting to size

Cons

Simple and effective
Performs as expected — solid for wrapping and protecting items.

Not ideal for my needs
I found tape wouldn’t adhere and some items developed freezer burn faster than expected, so I avoid using it for meat.

Exactly wet wax paper — works for meats
This is what it says: wet waxed paper. It wraps meat well but adhesive tape won't grip the waxed side reliably.

Good under charcuterie displays
I place it beneath boards and trays on my charcuterie table to keep moisture off the surface. I'll repurchase when this roll runs out.

Switched from plastic; mostly satisfied
After a year using this instead of vacuum plastic, overall performance has been good. Ground meat froze without issues and most cuts stayed well protected; a few fish pieces were slightly dry in places but still usable. The main drawback is that freezer tape often won't stick, so I used larger strips or an outer bag. For tighter wraps I sometimes layer thinner waxed paper first or place wrapped packs into a larger plastic bag to keep plastic away from direct food contact.
